Terms of Hire

Prices shown represent Standard hire bookings, including VAT and Insurance for one driver only. 

Please note that we are unable to accept cash payments. We accept debit or credit cards only.

Whilst every effort will be made to allocate the vehicle you have requested we cannot guarantee the exact specification as manufactures continually update their products We will of course guarantee the minimum size of vehicle you have selected and will offer a free upgrade, if required, due to availability issues. Your booking is only provisional until confirmed by us 

When hiring our vehicles a collision damage waiver (CDW) is provided within the hire price. The CDW has a damage liability that the hirer will be responsible for in the event of any damage. There is a security deposit of £500 required upon collection of vehicle that will be refunded upon safe return of our vehicle. Additionally you can purchase an excess waiver policy (XSW) from us from £25.00 per day, which will reduce the CDW excess liability by 90% e.g. £50, £75 or £100 depending on vehicle hired.  Please note, XSW may not be available to all customers or vehicles- it will be subject to application.

In addition to the daily hire charges, Road Fund Tax is chargeable at £2.00 per day (+VAT) cars & MPV's, and £3 per day (+VAT) for 8/9 Seater Buses.

Please Note

Since 8 June 2015, the paper counterpart to the UK photocard driving licence is no longer issued by the DVLA and whilst they still remain valid, “old style” UK paper-based licences will no longer be annotated with endorsements.  With effect from this date, any UK driving licence holders hiring a vehicle should ideally use “Share My Driving Licence”, the new online service from the DVLA, for validation of their driving record.

To view and create a one-time passcode the driver should visit gov.uk here where s/he will be asked to submit their:

  • Driving licence number

  • National Insurance number

  • Postcode

Passcode

The passcode, which will be valid for a maximum period of 21 days from the point it is generated, must be presented and still be valid when picking up any rental vehicle.  Any drivers unable to obtain a passcode should call the DVLA Customer Contact Centre on 0300 083 0013 (Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm). 

OR alternatively we can process this information at the time of hire commencement at one of our hire locations, the above information will still be required to access the DVLA data and if not provided upon request we will be unable to proceed with the vehicle hire.

Identification Needed

Additional identification is required to accompany your driving licence, a minium of two household utility bills, less than 3 months old are required, The address must match your driving licence.

You are not permitted to smoke in a hire vehicle provided under this agreement. A charge of £50.00 plus VAT will be applied where any rental vehicle is returned and it is established has been smoked in. This charge is separate and in addition to any charge applied due to damage caused by smoking in a rental vehicle i.e. cigarette burns.

Where vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel, customers must fully refuel the vehicle prior to its return. Where this does not happen, Day’s Rental will apply a charge of £1.75 per litre ex VAT to refuel the vehicle. It is one price irrespective of commodity i.e. petrol or diesel.

PLEASE ENSURE ALL DRIVERS BRING ALL THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION WITH THEM OR HIRE WILL BE REFUSED:

  • One from ID List (a)    (The Driving Licence must be readable in English/Roman Alphabet)

    • Valid Driving Licence Photo ID Card

    • Old Paper-Only Driving Licence supported by a Valid UK Passport

  •  Two from ID List (b) – Dated within 3 Months of hire start date  (The address must match the driving licence)  

    • Bank Statement

    • Credit Card Statement

    • Utility Bill (Gas /Water /Electricity /Landline Phone)

Debit or Credit card in drivers name as means of payment for the deposit and hire charge. (Cash or Cheques WILL NOT be accepted). Currently, we do not rent electric vehicles on our insurance and for hire durations of less than 28 Days*
